Season 12

Sundays from 7 July at 11.05pm Channel 070

Discovery Channel pays tribute to the legacy of culinary legend and ambassador of the world, Anthony Bourdain, with a new season of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. The series embodies his passion for uncovering hidden gems in seemingly-familiar areas of the world, celebrating diverse cultures through food and dining rituals and, most importantly, sharing these stories to inspire people to seek out their own adventures.

This season offers a window into the lifestyles of places such as West Virginia, where he traverses a 5,000 foot mine and dines on signature Appalachian dishes. He discovers the rocky, east coast Canadian island of Newfoundland, steeped in distinctive traditions, and abundant in fish and wild game. He takes a wide-angle look at the culture and history of Armenia, the progressive social change of Uruguay and the effect on its local cuisine, and the creative uprising of Berlin. And some notable names make guest appearances, as Anthony travels around Bhutan with film director Darren Aronofsky [Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan] on a tour of the remote South Asian Kingdom’s spectacular views, and the bustling city of Hong Kong with legendary cinematographer and long-time resident, Christopher Doyle [Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, The White Girl]. But it’s in Louisiana where Anthony does what he does best, going off the beaten path and taking us to ‘parts unknown’, getting lost in the celebration of their Cajun culture.
