Chopped, hosted by Ted Allen, is a high-pressure series full of skill, speed and ingenuity as four chefs face off against one another to prepare a spectacular three-course meal consisting of an appetiser, entree and dessert. The catch? In each round, they have to use all the ingredients the show provides them, however unlikely they might be (Gummi Bears, anyone?). At the end of each course, a panel of three guest judges "chops" one chef who fails to measure up in terms of taste, presentation and creativity. The last chef standing takes home bragging rights and a cool USD $10,000.
In the first episode, the chefs are alarmed to see one of the ingredients in the appetiser basket staring back at them. Yet, that "heady" ingredient is not the challenging item for some of the competitors. Then in the entree round, one chef finds himself unexpectedly playing with fire, creating a dangerous situation. In the end, two finalists must find a way to combine yellow rice and persimmon.
