In this series, Gregg Wallace and Cherry Healey go inside the factories to figure out how foods are made. This season takes a plunge into the world of coffee, Gregg visiting a factory that produces 175,000 jars of instant coffee a day! The UK’s love of curry gets a complete overview, as historian Ruth Goodman reveals its origins, cooking up a recipe dating back to 1747! While Gregg explores the Sharwood’s factory in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, Cherry goes further afield to Guntur, India to harvest chilis and follow them on their journey to curry powder. But Gregg does get to go overseas too – to Italy, that is – investigating every inch of what it takes to make the perfect pizza before they’re topped with tomato and put in the wood fired oven. You don’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve come from, and in the world of food, knowing the origins and the ingredients of our favourite foods and dishes can help make informed choices and provide helpful hints on how to create and tailor recipes in our own kitchens.
