A Disaster Waiting to Happen!

Sundays 7.30pm Channel 008

Frank Spencer is well-meaning, naïve and enthusiastic … unfortunately, Frank Spencer is also incompetent and disaster prone, and if he doesn’t create an accident, then the accident just seems to search him out in every episode of SOME MOTHERS DO ‘AVE ‘EM!

Led by stars Michael “The Phantom Of The Opera” Crawford and Michele Dotrice, the series is a sitcom in the classic mold, centering on everyday life and the extreme catastrophes that arise from the slightest misjudgments - and poor Frank is the master of misjudgment.

Filmed in and around Bedfordshire, Michael Craford was not the BBC’s first choice for the role (they preferred either Robbie Barker or Norman Wisdom!) but he managed to secure the part after the success of Hello, Dolly! in 1969. Crawford invented many of Frank Spencer’s mannerisms himself, basing them primarily on how a child reacts to various situations.

SOME MOTHERS DO ‘AVE ‘EM was created and written by Raymond Allen, and stars Michael Crawford (Hello, Dolly!), Michele Dotrice (Middlemarch) and Jessica Forte.
