September's Getting Spooky!

Thursdays 8.30pm Channel 208

Literary icon Stephen King is having a bit of a moment, with a number of his books finding themselves on television and at the cinema, including the sequel to 2017’s surprising hit It.

Timed to coincide with the release of Stephen King’s It: Chapter 2 on September 6, we’re delving into four of the hit writers’ most successful forays onto television:

STEPHEN KING’S IT AUGUST 22-29: The original miniseries, that inspired the films, stars Tim Curry as the terrifyingly sadistic clown Pennywise, and an ensemble cast led by Harry Anderson.

THE SHINING SEPTEMBER 5-19: Steven Weber (Wings) stars as Jack Torrance, a struggling writer who takes over as caretaker at the Outlook Hotel, the home of a deeply malevolent force.

THE LANGOLIERS SEPTEMBER 26-OCTOBER 3: The passengers of a plane find themselves trapped inside a time rift and desperate to find a way home before it closes forever.

THE STAND OCTOBER 10-31: This adaptation of King’s epic story of good and evil – often cited as a predecessor to golden age of television we’re in now – finds the survivors of a super-flu, which wipes out 99.4% of the world’s population, facing each other for the future of humanity.
