SKY NEW ZEALAND CONCLUDES A RAFT OF PREMIUM DRAMA AND MOVIE DEALS WITH THE WORLD’S BEST STUDIOS

Includes content from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros.

SKY is excited to announce the conclusion of a large number of long-term content deals which will see some of the most anticipated television programming and blockbuster movies from across the globe screen exclusively on its various linear and streaming platforms in New Zealand.

Adding a further dimension to SKY’s strong premium drama offering, the company has finalised an unprecedented deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution to position SKY as the exclusive Kiwi home for all upcoming titles broadcast on the US FX network.

“FX is known for terrific original dramas and limited series such as American Crime Story, Snowfall and Feud.  We have enjoyed a strong working relationship with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution on their titles from the FX stable for many years.  It’s great that we are now entering a longer term exclusive deal with them for all of the studio’s newly produced series on the US FX network,” said Lisa Clements, SKY’s Head of Acquisitions, Entertainment & Movies.

“Upcoming FX titles on SKY will include Ryan Murphy’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Feud: Charles and Diana and the highly-anticipated Trust, the star-studded new limited series from Danny Boyle about the bizarre life of John Paul Getty III, heir to one of the world’s greatest fortunes,”

The announcement comes hot on the heels of SKY’s recently concluded exclusive first-run content deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, where the inclusion of titles such as The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow cement SKY’s position as the New Zealand home of DC series.

Movie fans are also well catered for with extended deals seeing new blockbuster titles from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros. coming to SKY Box Office, SKY Movies and NEON, further bolstering the already impressive movie offerings on these platforms.

A deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment will see all of their new feature titles exclusively available on SKY’s movie channels and in an innovative move, the exclusivity across each of the film deals gives SKY movie tier customers access to all new titles on SKY On Demand at any time during the title licence period, regardless of when the title premieres.

“It goes without saying that we have made a huge investment in content which will screen across SKY, NEON and, where appropriate, on our free-to-air channel Prime,” said SKY’s Director of Entertainment Content, Travis Dunbar.

“It is part of our commitment to continually add considerable breadth to the great value offering to all our customers, no matter how they choose to watch their content with us.  With more than half of New Zealand engaging with SKY through our linear, SKY On Demand and SKY GO platforms, along with our SVOD service NEON (available to non-SKY customers), we were delighted to work closely with this incredible array of global content distributors to secure these key titles for our audiences,” said Mr Dunbar.
