ART YOUR TV RETURNS TO SKY CHANNEL 220 FROM 15 FEBRUARY

Due to the overwhelming success of the inaugural SKY ARTS Art Your TV Pop-up Gallery last year, SKY ARTS has again partnered with four of New Zealand’s most well-known galleries to display works from their artists on a dedicated TV channel. From 15 – 23 February Art Your TV will once again be turning the nation’s living rooms into a captivating art gallery.

From 10am on Wednesday 15 February, all SKY Basic customers will have access to the SKY ARTS Art Your TV Pop-up Gallery on channel 220 at no additional cost, which will screen a revolving showcase of works from a wide variety of New Zealand artists.

Images of each artwork will be broadcast in 15 minute rotations throughout the day, with a day dedicated to one gallery’s artists. Established artists featured will include Dame Louise Henderson, Colin McCahon, Chris Heaphy, Pat Hanly and Toss Woollaston.

SKY offered all New Zealanders with an artistic streak the chance to share their work on this platform and received over 185 submissions from emerging artists, including sculpture, paintings and photography. The work of 27 artists has been selected and will also be showcased throughout the week.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Art Your TV back to homes around the country,” says SKY ARTS channel manager Chris deBazin.

“The response to last year’s Pop-up Gallery from our viewers was incredible and the feedback has been terrific. This is a fabulous way to share the work of New Zealand artists with audiences who may not otherwise get the chance to see it. From recognisable household names to the exciting range of up and coming Kiwi artists - we are truly honoured to be able to bring art back to the masses.”

The participating galleries – endemicworld, LOT23, Mossgreen-Webb’s and Gow Langsford – will each be featured on separate days during the period and all artworks will be available for purchase.

The SKY ARTS Art Your TV Pop-up Gallery is open from 15 – 23 February on SKY Channel 220 and is available at no extra charge for all SKY Basic customers.
