SKY TV STARSHIP NATIONAL AIR AMBULANCE APPEAL A SUCCESS

Kiwis who took part in SKY TV’s major fundraising drive for Starship raised $60,000 for the Starship National Air Ambulance last month.

SKY is a Starship Foundation Five Star Sponsor and the funds were raised through SKY’s annual Channel for Starship initiative. SKY customers could upgrade to a premium channel like SoHo or SKY Sport for just $5, with all proceeds going to support the Starship National Air Ambulance.

In the past year alone the Starship National Air Ambulance has brought more than 150 seriously ill or injured children from all over the country to Starship to receive the specialist care they need.

SKY TV Communications Advisor Kirsty Way said the total raised was another amazing effort. “Nearly half a million dollars has been raised since we launched our Channel for Starship initiative in 2011 and Kiwis have once again shown remarkable support. We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this vital national service, which people may not realise they need until they need it most,” said Way.

Starship Foundation Chief Executive Brad Clark said he was continually overwhelmed by the generosity of Kiwis. "We’re so grateful to our Five Star Partner SKY and SKY customers whose funds help us to keep this lifeline for New Zealand families in the air. Their support helps us provide a vital service to children across the country in urgent need of lifesaving care. Thank you very much to everyone who donated - each and every donation makes a big difference,” he said.

The Starship Foundation needs to raise $1.5 million annually for the Starship National Air Ambulance Service. To donate, visit https://www.starship.org.nz/skytv
