SKY LANDS A BIG HIT WITH YEAR-LONG BOXING DEAL

Boxing fans are in for a treat this year, with SKY announcing today it has secured the rights to dozens of top-level bouts during 2016.

The deal includes all the Showtime Championship Boxing and Premier Boxing Champions events controlled by Los Angeles based Integrated Sports from January until 31 December.

“At this stage, that means SKY fans will be able to enjoy at least 58 events, including this weekend’s WBC Heavyweight World Championship fight between Deontay Wilder and Artur Szpilka,” says SKY’s director of sport Richard Last.

“The following weekend will see former world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia take on former two-division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero so we’ve already got two very exciting matches on the cards.”

The deal includes 12 Showtime Championship Boxing bouts – one per month – and more than 45 Premier Boxing Champions matches.

Most of the matches will screen over weekends with some taking place mid-week.
