SKY TV ANNOUNCES FIVE NEW FOREIGN LANGUAGE CHANNELS
SKY Television will be launching five exciting new foreign language channels in February, including a Filipino channel and two Hindi channels, as well as two new Chinese channels, just in time to welcome in the Chinese New Year.
The new channels will launching on Tuesday 9th February and include:
TFC (The Filipino Channel), the Philippines’ top TV channel offering the very best in general entertainment in Tagalog.
Star Chinese Channel and SCM (Star Chinese Movies) are two premium Chinese language channels offering the very best in general entertainment and movies.
Colors will offer the best in Hindi general entertainment and whilst Star Gold will bring you closer to Bollywood.
SKY’s Director of Content Strategy, Megan King commented:
“At SKY, we’re always evolving to provide our customers with a world class entertainment experience. These new channels will offer superb entertainment content and will help bring your own culture closer to home here in New Zealand.”
To subscribe to the channels you must be either a SKY Basic or Broadcast subscriber before being able to add the new line-up.
SKY subscribers will be able to sample all of the new channels for a month after the launch date at no extra charge.
Star Plus which is currently broadcasting on SKY Channel 315 will remain on SKY but moves to the new home of Channel 150 on Tuesday 9 February where it will available at a reduced monthly rate.
The existing foreign language channels operated by WTV will come off SKY on Tuesday 1 March.

Colors – Hindi (SKY Channel 151)
Star Gold – Hindi (SKY Channel 152)
Star Chinese Channel – Mandarin (SKY Channel 155)
SCM (Star Chinese Movies) – Mandarin (SKY Channel 156)
TFC (The Filipino Channel) – Tagalog (SKY Channel 160)
- Existing foreign language channel Star Plus will move to SKY Channel 150 from Tuesday 9 February at a reduced rate.
- All existing WTV operated channels will be removed from SKY on Tuesday 1 March.
- SKY subscribers will be able to sample all of the new channels for a month after the launch date at no extra charge.
- To subscribe you must be either a SKY Basic or Broadcast subscriber.
- The channels can be subscribed to individually or as packages.
- The channels are broadcast in Standard Definition (SD).
PRICING STRUCTURE
BASIC TIER
If a customer subscribes to SKY Basic they are eligible to choose:
- From the “Hindi Package”
- any one channel for $9.99; OR
- any two channels for $14.99; OR
- all three Hindi channels for $19.99; AND
- From the “Chinese Package”
- any one channel for $9.99; OR
- any two channels for $14.99;
- The Filipino Channel
- One channel for $14.99
BROADCAST TIER ONLY
- Three Hindi Channels (incl StarPlus) = $19.99 (+ the broadcast tier fee/decoder rental)
- Two Chinese Channels = $14.99 (+ the broadcast tier fee/decoder rental)
- The Filipino Channel = $14.99 (+ the broadcast tier fee/decoder rental)
