ART YOUR TV AND TURN YOUR LIVING ROOM INTO AN ART GALLERY

SKY ARTS has partnered with five of New Zealand’s most well-known galleries to display works from their artists on a special pop-up channel for one week in November, turning the nation into the world’s largest art gallery.

From 10am on November 10, all SKY Basic customers will have access to the SKY ARTS Art Your TV Pop-up Gallery on channel 220, which will screen a revolving showcase of works from a wide variety of New Zealand artists.  Images of each artwork will be broadcast in 15 minute rotations throughout the day and those featured will include Colin McCahon, Jen Sievers, Peter Stitchbury, Karley Feaver and Dick Frizzell.

“We’re excited to be able to celebrate the work of up-and-coming and established local artists to all Kiwis,” said SKY ARTS channel manager Chris deBazin.

“This is a fabulous way to share their work with an audience who might otherwise not get the chance to see it.  Everyone wants something nice on their wall and for many this will be a great chance to gain a better understanding of and appreciation for New Zealand art.”

The participating galleries, Art+Object, endemicworld, Lot23, Mossgreen-Webb’s and Gow Langsford, will each showcase on separate days during the period and all artworks will be available for purchase.

The SKY ARTS Art Your TV Pop-up Gallery is open from November 10-17 on SKY Channel 220 and is available at no extra charge for all SKY Basic customers.
