New Zealand’s premier national track cycling event will be streamed live and free on the Sky Sport Next YouTube channel this weekend.

The Vantage Elite & U19 Track National Championships will be held at the Avantidrome in Cambridge 23 to 26 January and feature some of New Zealand’s top cycling talent, including World Champion and Olympic medal winners.

Established stars Eddie Dawkins, Ethan Mitchell and Sam Webster will be pushing the youngsters to shine through, while other top talent to look out for includes the recently announced Women’s sprint team for the 2020 Elite World Championship in Berlin; Ellesse Andrews, Natasha Hansen, and Olivia Podmore.

This weekend’s event also includes the Elite & U19 Omnium and Open Madison, as well as the Para Championships.

Thanks to the launch of the Sky Sport Next YouTube channel in November ‘19, the event will be available to be streamed and viewed online for free.

Sky’s Cathryn Oliver says: “Sky Sport Next is a breakthrough platform showcasing New Zealand’s up-and-coming sports and athletes here at home. Since launch we’ve had more than 380,000 views of incredible content across multiple sports – and this weekend is sure to provide even more. Pinnacle events like the national track cycling championships have not always had the coverage they deserve – but through Sky Sport Next we’ll be live at the Avantidrome and down the track we’ll package the best of the best for fans.  Our aim is to drive participation at all levels by sharing the excitement the sport has to offer.”

Cycling New Zealand CEO, Jacques Landry says: “The Vantage Elite & U19 Track National Championships are a showcase of our top cycling talent at elite level and those athletes coming through our development pathways. Streaming the event through Sky Sport Next provides a fantastic opportunity for friends, family and fans to see our world class athletes race on their home track off the back of a successful Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup, and to witness the emergence of our future track stars as they compete for national honours.”
