CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF SUPER RUGBY ON SKY SPORT - RECODING FOR THE FUTURE

The ref will blow the opening whistle of the Investec Super Rugby season this Friday at 7.05pm, which is just one signal of how the game is being ‘recoded’.

Tex Teixeira, Sky’s Chief Content Officer says, “We are excited by our on-going partnership with NZ Rugby and are very supportive of the earlier kick-off times to help make it easier for fans to attend and enjoy the rugby experience.”

“Recoding the game means bringing a new energy and looking for ways for fans to experience the game.  We are constantly looking at improving and refining our rugby coverage to reach and entertain the maximum possible audience.  Some of these improvements include new camera angles, more in-depth analysis and unique behind-the-scenes access to players, referees and coaches.  Further, Sky Sport’s wealth of rugby experts and legends will be hosting from the stadium concourses around the country as we strive to connect and engage more with fans.

“We are also trialling free streaming of our live rugby build-up shows on Sky Sport’s YouTube page leading into each match to build hype, provide greater insight and attract new fans across New Zealand.”

As Super Rugby celebrates its 25th year, Sky will be showcasing many of the great moments of the past within live coverage, on magazine shows and social media platforms.

Investec Super Rugby opens with the Blues and the Chiefs, 31 Jan, 7.05pm at Eden Park.  Expect to see exciting young players get the first opportunity to make their mark across the competition.

All the action is LIVE on SkySport, SkySport Now and Sky Go.  And if you miss some of the live action, Sky offers a host of on-demand options to follow your favourite team or player.
