It’s 1948 and the Cold War has reached Chile. Following the President’s outlawing of communism, Pablo Neruda, a beloved poet by the people of Chile and his wife are forced into hiding. They slip underground only to be pursued by a police inspector hoping to make a name for himself by capturing the country’s most infamous fugitive. Neruda uses the time on the run to reinvent his work and life, all the while leaving clues to his whereabouts to create a cat-and-mouse game to thwart the incompetent inspector. A glorious mix of true history and imagination, blending visual grandeur and literary wit, Neruda is gripping, funny and ingeniously conceived. Nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film 2017. Starring Gael Garcia Bernal (Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries), Mercedes Moran & Luis Gnecco and directed by Pablo Larrain (Jackie).
