New Dehli 1947. The huge and stately Viceroy's Palace is like a beehive. Its five hundred employees are busy preparing the eagerly awaited arrival of Lord Louis Mountbatten, who has just been appointed the latest (and last) viceroy of India. Mountbatten, who faces a gigantic task in overseeing the transition of British India to Indian independence, arrives at the Palace, accompanied by Edwina, his liberal-minded wife and by his eighteen-year-old daughter Pamela. Little did they know, this would be the end of an empire and the birth of two nations. Starring Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) & Gillian Anderson (Soho’s The Fall).
