Wednesdays in May 8.30pm Channel 039

Women Make Film: A New Road Movie Through Cinema is an epic exploration of cinema history, through the lens of some of the world’s greatest directors – all women. Written and directed by Mark Cousins, he explores every aspect of filmmaking. An epic undertaking, it was five years in the making, and is made up of 40 “chapters”, over 14 hours. Using almost a thousand film extracts from thirteen decades and five continents, Cousins asks how films are made, shot and edited. How stories are shaped and how movies depict life, love, politics, humour and death. Women Make Film-  it’s a new road trip like no other! Narrated by Tilda Swinton, Jane Fonda, Adjoa Andoh, Sharmila Tagore, Kerry Fox, Thandie Newton & Debra Winger.
