RUBY TUI SIGNS WITH SKY SPORT

SKY Sport is proud to announce that current Black Ferns Sevens superstar, Ruby Tui, will formally be joining the SKY Sport rugby commentary team.

Ruby says: “I’m really excited to be a part of the SKY team, it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do and SKY have really just allowed me to express my passion for rugby in all formats, I do commentary, panel discussions and get to work with some legends of the game.

"It’s really inspiring and hopefully I can just learn off them and be the best I can be”.

Alongside Rikki Swannell, Ruby Tui will commentate both Black Ferns test matches against the Wallaroos in the Laurie O’Reilly Cup on August 10 and 17 LIVE on SKY Sport.

She’ll also commentate Farah Palmer Cup matches and join the panel discussions for both Bledisloe Cup matches that follow the Black Ferns test matches.

Ruby says: “If you’d have asked me while I was at uni studying media what I wanted to do, what would be a pinnacle event, it would definitely be commentating the Black Ferns.

"I have so much respect for that team, all of the accolades that they have achieved, that’s huge to me and it means so much that SKY are flying me to do this next to Rikki.”

SKY Head of Sports Production, Brian Hitchcock says: “Ruby is a real talent, and we are very happy to have secured her on our team. Not only is she a wonderful athlete, she’s got a great personality and this really shines through with her commentary.

"We think that our viewers are really going to enjoy hearing and seeing Ruby on SKY Sport.”

Not only will SKY Sport rugby fans be happy with Ruby joining the coverage, but it seems her teammates will too…

“I get a lot of flak from the girls for not being quiet while watching the rugby.

"I’m always pausing and rewinding it to have better looks at certain plays, so commentary actually suits me really well and I think you can ask any of the girls… it’s better that I come into SKY and do it on TV so they don’t have to put up with me annoying them!”

Rugby fans can catch Ruby Tui commentating the Black Ferns v Wallaroos Laurie O’Reilly test matches on August 10th and 17th LIVE on SKY Sport.
