SKY BOLSTERS EUROPEAN RUGBY OFFERING

SKY is excited to announce that it has secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for the Guinness Pro14 for the next three seasons (2018/19 – 2020/21) and the French Top 14 for the 2018/19 season.
The deals join the Gallagher Premiership and the Premier Rugby Cup to complete a comprehensive European rugby offering for rugby fans on SKY TV.

A number of Kiwi players and coaches are taking part in the Guinness Pro14, an annual rugby union competition involving professional sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa and Wales.

As part of the deal, SKY will broadcast a minimum of 152 games on the SKY platform with the majority being broadcast on the Rugby Channel with select games on SKY Sport.
The season will kick-off Saturday 1st September at 6.30am with three LIVE matches simultaneously. Cardiff Blues v Leinster Rugby on SKY Sport Pop-up 2, Zebre Rugby Club v Southern Kings on Rugby Channel Pop Up 1 and Ospreys v Edinburgh Rugby on Rugby Channel Pop-up 2.

A 30 minute Guinness Pro14 highlights and preview show will screen on both SKY Sport and the Rugby Channel.

The Kiwi stacked French Top 14 has also renewed its license with SKY to broadcast select matches of the 2018/19 season on the Rugby Channel and SKY Sport. With many of the French Top 14 sides featuring New Zealand talent, this will be of particular interest to Kiwi rugby fans.

SKY Director of Sport, Richard Last says: “It’s fantastic to lock these deals in, there is a great level of interest in Northern Hemisphere rugby particularly with the number of Kiwi players and coaches plying their trade in these competitions.
"With three of the four top ranked international teams from the northern hemisphere, the quality of the rugby is extremely high and these competition renewals are a welcome addition to our comprehensive European rugby offering.”

SKY’s current European rugby deals include:

Gallagher Premiership: The top division of the English rugby union system consisting of twelve clubs.
Guinness Pro14: 14 professional sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa and Wales.
French Top 14: The 14 best rugby teams in France participate in the competition.
