The Supercars Championship returns to action in late June, with Sydney Motorsport Park hosting the first round in the BP Ultimate SuperSprint as part of the Virgin Australia Supercar Championships.
The majority of the Supercar 2020 season had been placed on hold due to Covid-19, but a revised schedule has now been released, and it all starts back up again with the Sydney SuperSprint on the 27th & 28th June. Sydney is set to be a milestone event both racers and race fans alike. For a start, it’s the first race back in the 2020 season since the global pandemic forced organisers to suspend racing for health and safety reasons. Many race fans will be eager to return to the track to see the teams in action. With several racers themselves seeing big career milestones being bet as part of this race.
At the start of the first race, driver Jamie Whincup will become one of a handful of drivers in racing history ever to record 500 career race starts. No small feat for the 37 year old driver. Other racers hitting significant milestones in this race event include 39 year old driver James Courtney will return to the track to notch up his 200th round of racing since the start of his professional racing career and Nick Percat who celebrates his 200th Race when he takes to the track this coming Sunday. One of a select number of drivers to ever accomplish this feat in their racing career. For the latest Supercar Updates, events and live coverage watch motorsports now on Sky Sport.
