MUSIC & CULTURE, a collection of documentaries about musicians and music culture influences, plays on Rialto this May. Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda (2nd) looks at the life and prolific career of the titular Oscar-winning film and pop music composer. Next 'The 5 Browns' (9th) captures the emotional journey of the Julillard trained sibling piano prodigies and their remarkable story of healing. Act & Punishment: The Pussy riot trials (16th) follows the famous Russian actionist group and all-girl punk rock band. Descend into the epicenter of 70s hedonism with Studio 54 (23). With amazing footage and interviews with the likes of Andy Warhol, Liza Minelli and Bianca Jagger, the documentary captures a rare glimpse into the iconic nightclub. Woodstock (30th) captures the tumultuous events of the decade that lead up to the historic 3 day music festival in 1969, when 500,000 people flocked to a dairy farm in upstate New York. Rialto Channel: Thursdays this month at 8.30pm.
