A mob of unruly students in a tough South London School. What could possibly go wrong!

Weeknights from 3 September 8.00pm Channel 008

One of the top sitcoms of its time, JONES! proudly welcomes PLEASE, SIR! this month!

Freshly graduated from teachers training college, Bernard Hedges’ (John Alderton) finds his first job as a newly qualified teacher is at a tough South London school, Fenn Street Secondary Modern, where he is handed the daunting task of being the form teacher for the uneducable class 5C, a mob of rowdy, unruly adolescent boys and startlingly mature mini-skirted young women!

Hedges gets to grips with his new role while dealing with an assortment of challenges – including nude art, a student crush, the reappearance of an old flame, and a fire alarm puller!

A hit when it launched in the late 1960s, where it capitalised on the emerging counterculture of the time period, the show eventually spawned two spinoffs – The Fenn Street Gang (1971-72) and Bowler (1973), and was turned into a film for international distribution.

PLEASE, SIR! was created by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey (The Good Life, Ever Decreasing Circles), and stars John Alderton (Upstairs Downstairs), Deryck Guyler (Sykes), Joan Sanderson (Me And My Girl), Noel Howlett (Seeing And Believing) and Erik Chitty (The Goodies).
